Today, a number of the most beautiful churches in the United States and worldwide are built with 100% metal. Metal buildings are no longer considered the rusted out barns that blemished the American landscape for many years. Metal buildings now have hundreds of applications from sanctuaries to gymnasiums, from sports complexes to schools, from self-storage structures to grocery stores, from fellowship halls to pastor’s residences, from offices to structures that might conform to any human need today. The metal building technology has undergone myriad changes in its design and engineering that have now made this method of construction, one of the fastest growing facets in the church building industry today.

The simplicity of its design complemented with the versatility of the structures has fueled the popularity of metal structures for use as churches.

* The clear-span construction (or column-free interiors) and

* The high ceilings.

Both of these features are easily and readily accommodated with quality metal building design. Properly-constructed metal buildings have a track record of being extremely resistant to the forces of wind, snow, rain, seismic activity, and insect infestation.

Pockets unscathed with finesse unmatched!

The increasing popularity of metal building constructions, especially as the benefactor for churches also revolves around the cost effectiveness and swiftness of pre-engineered construction.

Some metal buildings can be purchased and erected at significantly lesser cost than conventional construction. All component building parts of a metal church are pre-punched, pre-drilled, and pre-welded at a factory prior to shipment to the erection site. This pre-engineering allows for rapid assembly processes and precludes the need for a specialized and expensive workforce. This results, thus in a lower quantity labor force required along with rapid assembly processes. Once delivered, depending upon its size, a church can be completed in far lesser time than more traditional building methods take. Metal buildings are also extremely flexible and can be designed for virtually any configuration. Metal building designs are no longer limited to the more primitive geometrical “box” shapes of the past.

Eco Friendly

The metal building industry is also a leader in the American recycling processes. The majority of all metal used in the United States is recycled and all new metal contains some recycled metal in its constitution. The fact that there is unlimited recyclables to any metal product is the most melodious piece of news for eco-friendly masses.

Have you been a collector of weathervanes for years and have a large number of them all over your home? Or maybe you’re just the kind of person who is in love with them from afar and often pines over the copper ones at antique sales, but never takes the step to purchasing one.

If you’re in the latter category, you should buy because you never know what those copper weathervanes are worth.

Case in point. In Boothbay, Maine the First Parish Church has been having a tough time. Parishioners are struggling financially and that is causing them to be able to put less and less into the collection plates. The church has been noticing a drop in revenue and is looking for options to keep things up and running while the congregation can’t afford to help as much as they would like.

The answer to their prayers may be literally coming from above. Recently, a man who collected copper weathervanes wrote the church to let them know that the rooster vane, that is sitting at the top of the steeple may be worth a lot more than they think.

The church allowed the collector to take it down to look up its history and he found that the rooster is likely from the 1770s. That makes it a lot older than even the old church, which was built in 1869.

This particular vane had a number of amazing featured including being four feet long, over three feet tall and being made not only of copper but also lead and gold gilding to create many of the accents.

While the collector says he loves this vane, now that he has researched the history of the piece he says it is worth a lot more than he would be able to afford. Instead the church is having it repaired and going to allow the collector to show it off to other collectors in hopes of making a sale.

The church is hoping it will go well, saying they could use the money that comes in from the sale of such an old item to fix up their building, which has seen much better days. At the same time, they say they are not going to sell it just to sell it and they hope to get a fair value for the piece.

While most of the copper weathervanes you may find in your travels and the scouring of sales may not be over 200 years old, collectors say you never really know what you have until you find one and do a little research.

This is not, however, a call to run out and pick up any old looking vane you see. The idea is instead to enjoy the things you think are beautiful and if you see one that you like, you never know what a gem it may be.

Of course, chances are the majority of the copper weathervanes you come across won’t be worth anything near the amount of that collectible piece, but if your first reason for purchasing them is because you love the look, it will always have a lot of value to you.

1. You will achieve the look and feel you want by painting your walls warm colors.

2. Choose ceiling colors that are similar to your walls. Avoid selecting a ceiling color extremely different than your walls. Accents can be added later.

3. Your window frames, baseboards, doors and crown molding should be painted any color except white, if possible. (In Morocco, Blue Doors mean good luck)

4. You can paint or stain furniture around your home a dark tone. Morrocan, Moorish, African or even Asian furniture all work well. For your dining room you may want to consider a café table and café table chairs.

5. Look for engraved woodwork, ornamental metalwork or carved designs.

6. Spread out some small rugs to give a rich, luxurious mood. Opt for full length curtains with simple vertical stripes.

7. Look for hanging lamps made of colored glass or even fabric or paper lanterns.

8. Place lots of candles around your room for a warm cozy glow.

9. Multicolored lamps add a decorative style. Punctured tin, fabric or paper lanterns can also be used quite nicely.

10. Hang material around the room and drape it casually over chairs.

11. Instead of just table and chairs, if possible use counters with Morrocan barstools to add more to the casual feel of the room. Search online for specific Morrocan ones.

12. Accent your room with small exotic pieces that remind you of where you have been. Add them casually around the room.

13. Buy lots of pillows and put them all around your room. Decorate with lots of rugs and cushions so your floor looks like a comfortable place to relax.

While browsing online I came across East Coast Chairs who sells furniture, including tables, chairs and barstools. They have quite a furniture selection including bulk chair orders, chiavari chariis, church chairs. Check out their Morrocan Barstools when you visit http://www.tableschairsbarstools.com

It has been conventional wisdom that the ideal amount of seating for a home party is one seat for every guest. The hosts of a party would carefully count the number of available seating spaces and compare that to the guest list. If the total of guests exceeded the seating capacity, it would be time to seek some additional chairs. This often involved borrowing some folding chairs, and setting them up inside the party area.

Much depends on the type of entertaining that is being done. A dinner party is an example of an event where sitting needs to be consistent with the guest list. In fact, it is seating and table space that sets the limit of the guest list. A formal dinner party does not work well with some of the guests sitting on the living room couch with their plates in their laps. There are other kinds of events that are much the same as the dinner party. Events where it will be expected that at some time during the duration of the event, everyone will need to be seated at the same time.

A party, even a cocktail party, is a different story. The ideal cocktail party involves a certain amount of circulation. If you plan the party properly, you plan a flow into it. The flow is intended to move the guests from area to area in order to facilitate mingling and interaction between them. If your refreshments are centered in a dinning area, for example, but your party extends into the living room and other areas of the home, the movement of guests to the refreshment area provides this circulation.

When planning a party this way, an excessive number of chairs is the worst possible thing. If every guest is able to find a comfortable chair, they will have a tendency to sit down and put down roots at their chair. Guests will tend to have someone “saving their seat” when they do have to leave it for any reason. They are also more likely to return quickly in order to reclaim their chairs. A number of chairs that is slightly less than the number of guests is also bad. It can easily lead to your party becoming an adult musical chairs game as the guests vie for the available seating. Anyone not able to find a chair begins to feel somehow like a loser.

There is always a need for some chairs. There should be just enough to provide seating for people who might be elderly, or ill, or even have had a bit too much to drink. Outside of this, seating is not needed. It is going to be a better party if everyone is up and moving around. So, it depends on the party and the situation. The answer could be expressed this way: enough seating is enough for the purposes of your entertaining event.

Cupolas have been used, for centuries, to accent homes, barns and churches. Adding a touch of elegance and breaking up the flat lines of a roof, they draw attention and add a sense of age and mystery to what might, otherwise, seem a rather plain rooftop. Cupolas can be made of many materials, though older examples were crafted of wood, with intricate little windows often decorating the sides.

Modern cupolas are frequently made of fiberglass these days, better able to withstand high winds of up to 120 mph and the accompanying poor weather. Whatever your preference is, almost any size and shape of cupolas can be found – though some all-time favorites include the unique bell-shaped, gazebo-shaped or English-style cupolas. Whatever style you prefer, when choosing your cupolas, the general rule to keep in mind, is that your cupola should measure 1 inch for every 1 foot of unbroken roof line. Choosing a cupola that is too small for the size of your house will make it appear less like the cupola you desire, and more like someone’s misplaced birdhouse.

Cupolas are usually easy to mount, using screws. If you’re worried about putting holes in your roof, and the risk of it leaking plugs can be used to keep the hole nice and tight, and a small dab of silicone or sealant will ensure it’s watertight. Some people choose to further enhance their cupolas, by adding wooden or copper finials to the top, which grants a more elegant touch. Also commonly found atop cupolas are stylish wrought iron or copper weather vanes which add height and beauty to your roof.

Whatever your preference, there is always a cupola for you. Made of fiberglass, vinyl, copper, mahogany, cedar and many other materials, they are sure to add an elegant touch to your beautiful home.

Pools are among the most popular features of a home. In fact, many people specifically look for them when making a home buying decision. Even if your home does not have a pool when you first move in, you may wish to add one at a later date.

There are two types of pools: those that are built above ground, and those that are what is called in-ground which means they are actually placed in a hole in the ground. There are several benefits to adding a pool to your home. If you decide to add an in-ground pool, you will probably raise the value of your home so that should you decide to sell it, you may receive more than what you paid when you purchased it. Adding a pool also gives you a place to relax, entertain, and exercise all in the comforts of your own home.

Another benefit to adding a pool to your home is the ability to reap the benefits without having to contend for space at the public pool down the street or at the local community center. There are, however, several considerations that should be give before making such a decision.

If you choose to add an above-ground pool, you will want to be sure your ground in your yard is right. This means that if you live on a hill, you may have to check into having a part of the yard leveled, or into placing the pool in an area that won’t affect it once it has been installed. Because you will need to assemble it, and because it will be above ground, you will need to make sure it is properly seated so the sides will not cave in or the lining will not tear. Some people even choose to build a deck around their above-ground pools so as to give the effect of an in-ground pool, and to stabilize the overall structure.

If you choose to add an in-ground pool, you will want to make sure you have enough space in your yard for doing this. In some cases, this mean cutting down trees and clearing greenery, but the size of the pool you will be able to install will depend on the amount of usable space you have in your yard.

You will also need to be sure you have enough room left for a fence. This is especially important if you have children, but should be a consideration even if you do not. Finally, make sure you will have the time to properly take care of the pool. This means regularly cleaning it and making sure it is free of unwanted debris. It also means checking the chlorine levels to be sure there is enough, or there isn’t too much. Too much chlorine in a pool can be harmful to those who swim in it. Lastly, enjoy your investment. If you do not plan to use it frequently, you might want to think about this before spending the money to have it installed.

A church is a holy place, where Christians come to pray and feel spiritually relaxed. The interiors of a church play a key role in spiritually uplifting the mind and the soul of an individual. There are some basic attributes of a church that are present in all the churches worldwide. Even though a church is a holy place, the interiors have to be planned and designed carefully for the devotees, for a heavenly feel.

A church’s interiors demand for detailed work, from the ceiling to the floors. In earlier days, stained glass work was considered to be the biggest attribute of a church. They had a lot of importance. They were treasured. Even today, stained glass work is a big attraction, but is not considered as important as they were considered in the medieval times. Besides this, they have become really expensive.

Stations of the Cross are one of the most important attributes of the interiors of a church, which addresses to the people the story of the lord. Its priceless beauty carries a lot of importance for the devotees. Its unique, visual scenario tells tales of Lord Jesus. These stations relate to particular incidents that occurred in the life of Jesus. Some will also show peoples concern and devotion for Him. These stations can either be in the form of paintings, engravings, or sculptors made of metal or wood.

All stations are spaced out and are the visual attractions on the walls. There are fourteen stations and each station is titled. For example, the first station is “Christ condemned to death”, and the visual is that of Jesus being sentenced to death by the Romans. In some churches, these stations are either hung or painted on the walls, or are present in the form of stained glasses. These stations are the biggest attribute in catholic devotion, as these are present to uplift the spirit of the devotees and remind them of their faith, their Lord and His pain.

The wine, the bread and us

Besides the stations of the church, the other important aspect of a church is the altar. Without an altar, a church is no church. An altar is a raised platform, referred to as the communion table. It is the place where religious offerings are made. An altar is either made of marble or wood. But in most of the churches, it is made of marble. Another important aspect of the interiors of a church is its tabernacle. It is either made of gold, silver or wood, and is elaborately decorated. It could be as small as a box or as big as a miniature form of a church. It could either opened by pulling the drawer or by stepping into it through a small door. It is usually placed behind the altar or somewhere beside the altar. It holds the bread and wine for the communion and in places, is also covered with a glass.

Another thing to lookout for in a church is the pew. This is the seating arrangement for the devotees who go to the church to pray. They are long seating arrangements with padded space for each, where one can kneel and pray. There is no individual seating in a church. usually rustic decorating ideas come to the rescue in these cases.

Are you looking for a unique way to move light through an exterior or interior wall window or shower? If so, consider using colored and frosted glass blocks to improve the looks of a space, increase privacy, and to add more light to a dark area. In this article you’ll learn 5 steps to guide you through the design, purchase and installation of a window, wall or shower using both color and clear satin finished block units.

Step 1 – Define what benefits you want from the blocks and where you want to use them – The most common reasons to use frosted blocks, with or without color, is to simultaneously improve the looks of the space and increase privacy. Since the faces are similar to an obscure glass they soften and diffuse the light being transmitted into an interior space. The most common places to use frosted glass block are:

o Interior walls separating bathrooms from main living areas
o Exterior windows on the sides of homes for privacy, security and light movement
o Shower walls
o Kitchen backsplashes
o Transom windows in closets
o Conference rooms for privacy and interior light movement
o Bars in recreation rooms
o Windows and walls in churches, schools, hospitals and day care centers to add an architectural design element while not sacrificing privacy
o Other decorative design applications like fountains and interior picture murals

Step 2 – Determine the size and shape of project — The use of satin finished frosted blocks does not need to be limited to straights walls or windows. This product is available in multiple sizes (which include 4″ x 8″, 6″ x 6″, 6″ x 8″, 8″ x 8″, and 12″ x 12″) and in various shapes (there are blocks for the end of a wall, corners, ones that make a gradual rounded radius or 45 degree angle — there are even frosted and colored glass blocks that can create a step down wall).

For windows projects measure the rough framed opening or masonry opening you will put the blocks into. For shower and wall projects it’s helpful to do a rough drawing of the size and shape of the wall. Call a block fabricating and installation company to guide you through the specifics units required to make your design a reality. They should be able to help you not only on what blocks are needed, but the most cost effective way to use the blocks to minimize your final costs (since the blocks cannot be cut it’s always best to think though what specific sizes will be needed so the project comes together professionally and what thickness of block will complete the job at the lowest total cost – note: 3″ blocks will help to keep costs down in some instances).

Step 3 – Define your design goals — Using colored and frosted glass block needs to add both interest and function to the room. If you’re design goal is to create a space that feels calm and tranquil the use of frosted block will be consistent with this objective. On the other hand if you want vibrant color (maybe for a church, school, daycare center etc.) using a non-frosted smooth faced block will be the better choice. If you’re looking to add some patterning into the window, shower or wall the frosted and smooth faced block can be alternated to create a checkerboard design. A horizontal or vertical stripe of color with the obscured frosting process can also create a dramatic look.

Step 4 – Purchase the right product — Doing a block project the right way requires that the correct product. While most people think of buying individual glass blocks and putting them together one by one, this method rarely results in the best finished quality project or the lowest total cost.

Most window projects (blocks can be used in both residential applications in kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms, transoms and in commercial projects for churches, schools, office buildings, hospitals etc.) are done best with prefabricated assemblies. Some of the panels come with vinyl frames and nailing fins that make installations easier in new construction and addition projects. There are also frame-less windows that work better in masonry (brick and block) openings and remodeling projects.

For shower and wall projects the frosted blocks can be put into pre-made panel sections that can be anchored into the surrounding walls. These sections can be safely shipped on a nationwide basis and make the installation process easier and less costly than needing to hire a skilled mason or tile setter to lay the blocks individually.

Step 5 – Getting the job done — Glass block installations can be done by a professional block contractor, a skilled mason or tile setter or as a do it yourself project by someone with good construction skills. The key to success is to make sure you’ve got the right tools, skills, products and installation procedures to do it right the first time.

Consider calling a block panel fabrication and installation company for instructions and guidance on the best method for your specific window, wall or shower. If you’re unsure whether you want to tackle the job yourself call a contractor with specific experience with these glass masonry units (not all general mason contractors and tile setters can deliver a quality glass block job). Hiring a professional contractor should come with a written guarantee to take some of the worry out of the process.

Now that you’re equipped with these 5 steps you’re ready to order your colored and frosted glass blocks for your next window, shower or wall project.

There has been an increased amount of popularity among businesses. Growing firms have found that they can grow their businesses quickly and in a cost effective way. The need for more space provides them with greater opportunity to increase capacity and develop their companies.

That same line of thinking has allowed individuals and other organizations to consider metal buildings for their own uses.

1. Garage space. For any homeowner, more garage space would be a welcome addition. A steel garage kit would allow a quick and inexpensive way to add space for additional auto storage or a workshop. An even quicker and more affordable way to protect a vehicle from the elements would be a metal carport. Metal carports allow for a more open feel, while keeping the vehicle out of the rain and sun.

2. Extra storage. A common problem facing most homeowners is having enough storage space. Some folks choose to store their items off-site at a storage facility. This can become costly and inconvenient; thus making access to their goods a hassle. Many homeowners look to find ways to store large and seasonal items so they are at hand when needed. A metal storage building erected on your existing property can give you what you need and let you have access to it when you need it.

3. Residential metal buildings. More and more, steel buildings are being considered for conventional and modular home construction. Homeowners are finding that a metal building or steel frame building offers cost savings, quick turnaround, easy building code compliance, as well as ease of construction.

4. Churches. With conventional construction and building materials being quite expensive, smaller or growing church congregations that are supported by donations can build a house of worship that makes financial sense.

5. Barn space. Perhaps you keep livestock and need an affordable place to house your animals. A metal barn would allow you the opportunity to use a steel building designed for farm use. This prefab metal building could provide an inexpensive way to start or grow a farm. Also, with more so-called “hobby farms” popping up in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, a metal building kit would afford the same versatility and durability as commercial steel buildings.

6. Portable buildings. Pre-engineered metal buildings have the potential to be erected and taken down with some level of ease. This might work well in a situation where you need a portable building, meaning a building that is not intended to be there on a long-term basis. A portable storage building would another application.

7. Roofing. Some homeowners and organizations also have looked into having a metal roof on a conventional building. Metal roofs offer the same durability and low cost as metal buildings do. This might be a quick, easy and cost-effective way to put a roof on a storage building, barn or garage.

Of course, there are many uses for prefab steel buildings. They give homeowners opportunities to increase living, storage, and work space. In some cases, where the homeowner or organization has the resources of time and manpower, metal building kits and steel garage kits allow for the do-it-yourselfer to save more money while building a new structure.

These buildings are easy to construct, offer a variety of choices and applications, and are far more economical than conventional buildings. All-in-all, a pre-engineered structure might be the solution you are looking for.

Though they are still common in churches, stained glass windows are popular today in many types of buildings. They complement Victorian and other historical homes well, but can also add beauty to homes in other styles. However, the most famous pieces date back to the middle ages and are housed in ancient cathedrals in Western Europe.

Canterbury Cathedral

Canterbury cathedral is located in southeastern England about 75 miles from London. It is well known for its stained glass windows, which date back to the 12th and early 13th century. The oldest is believed to be from the year 1176 and features Adam delving. There are dozens of scenes depicted by these pieces of art, some illustrating biblical stories, others showing the lives of every day people of the time.

Chartres Cathedral

The Chartres Cathedral is located about 50 miles outside of Paris and is one of the greatest examples of Gothic architecture. The stained glass that is featured throughout the cathedral is said to be one of the largest complete medieval collections in the world, with 152 pieces left intact. The windows are from the early 13th century and are distinguished by the blue color used in them. Biblical scenes depicted include the Last Supper and Madonna and Child.

Sainte-Chapelle

La Sainte-Chapelle cathedral is located on Ile de la Cite in Paris. The stained glass windows at the cathedral are from the 12th and 13th century, and famously illustrate scenes from the Book of Esther and the Book of Kings. At least 15 pieces are installed in the famous Gothic style monument.

Florence Cathedral

Florence Cathedral, or Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, in Italy is a Gothic style church that was founded in the beginning of the fifth century. A total of 44 stained glass windows from the 14h and 15th centuries illustrate stories about the saints from the Old and New Testament.

LA window replacement AND LA shower doors, and storefront replacement can improve your property.
